A Boy, His Dog and the Sea is a children’s picture book about a young boy who is asked to take the family dog for a walk on the beach but he doesn’t want to as he thinks the beach is boring. However, he is soon glad that he went, as his dog Scruff saves the day.

The book is very touching and poignant and the artwork definitely steals the show. The illustrations are full-page, soft, and capture the eye. I personally love the illustration when people on the beach are all standing waving as it shows you that sometimes people don’t see the bigger picture.

Overall, A Boy, His Dog and the Sea was such a beautiful read. It comes across so heartfelt that it makes you want to saviour each page and then feel ecstatic at the ending – Scruff you are a hero!
