Review by Stacey

Author M.T. Sanders, known for his children’s books featuring his beloved Newfoundland dog Monty, has released a new book, Bandit Lost in the Forest. Sadly Monty passed away in 2022 and Sanders is now introducing us to his new Newfoundland, Bandit, in this stunning tale. Monty fans need not worry though as he makes a brief appearance but it is Bandit that takes centre stage in this first book featuring the new addition to the Monty Dogge series.

Written in a rhyming style, the story unfolds with Bandit being discovered alone in the forest by a squirrel. Despite the forest animals’ efforts to care for him, they lack the proper environment for such a large puppy.

I found the story to be a heart-warming and beautiful introduction to Bandit. I’m sure Fans of Monty will adore him with the same affection. As with Sanders’ previous books, the illustrations have magnificently been created. They are bright, colourful, and full-page. Plus, they capture the essence of the text perfectly.

Overall, Bandit Lost in the Forest is an adorable tale that fits perfectly with the author’s previous children’s books. I can’t wait to read about Bandit’s adventures in further books as I’m sure he will be just as hilarious as Monty was.

M.T. Sanders is a writer, blogger and author.

An accidental career began after he took early retirement and began writing stories on social media about his five dogs. Life according to Monty Dogge soon attracted a huge following and led to invites to blog live from Crufts and other high-profile events.

In 2017 and 2018 Vuelio placed it in the top ten UK pet blogs and the still growing readership encouraged MT to write a book. I’m not a Pandacow was the debut children’s book released in 2017 and this has been quickly followed by four more to date.
