Review by Stacey
Calmer Llama is a cute young children’s board book all about learning to be calm and happy. The book is a touchy-and-feel book with things to rub such a Llama’s belly or hooves.
The book is very small and short at just 10 pages which each double page showcasing a different way to be a calmer person. The double-pages are also a different colour each time.
I liked some of the things that Llama teaches children about being calmer such as being outdoors with nature or long deep breathes. However, these are also the things that have confused me a little as board books are normally aimed at babies from 0-3 years. I’m unsure that babies will understand long deep breaths or enjoying the moment. Had this been a picture book aimed at older children I would have understood but I’m not sure the age fits the context.
Overall, I loved the look, the things to feel, the very cute Llama, and even the mirror at the back from children to learn their ‘calm face’. If you think your little children will be able to understand the context then this is a lovely little book to have and teach about being calm.
