Synopsis
Ella has always dreamed of seeing the sunrise. But with her delicate gossamer wings, she can only come out at night. So, when the moon is high, she collects as many shimmering beams of light she can find – a twinkle from a star, the glow from a lamp post. With her light, she guides lost and lonely animals and finds friendship in Fox and Owl. And, together, Ella’s animal friends know just how to return her kindness…
A gentle, tender storybook about friendship and the power of kindness.
Review by Stacey
Ella is a tiny fairy with delicate wings. Each night she wakes and flies around collecting light to give to others so that their way will be lit and that they won’t be so scared in the darkness. However, Ella had one wish, to see the sunrise, but her wings were so delicate that the light from the sun would break them, so as morning approached Ella always retreated to her little nook in a tree.
That is until those animals she had helped came up with a plan so that her wish could come true.
The first thing that you notice about Ella’s Night Lights is the illustrations. My word they are so beautiful. They really are special and would look good hung on a wall as a piece of art, as well as making this book stand out and look magical.
Alongside the illustrations is a charming tale which is all about friendship and being helpful, two very important lessons for children to learn. This is a book that is as good on the inside as that front cover looks. It is breath-taking, enchanting, and mesmerising and I completely adored it. I can see this becoming a firm favourite with little ones and it would make the most perfect bedtime story.
