Review by Stacey
Eve’s Ducklings is a sweet young children’s book about a little girl called Eve who visits the park with her Grandpa where there is a pond with a mother duck and her two ducklings.
Eve wants to play with the ducklings, she wants to stroke them and hold them but they move away from her or their mother chases her off. Eve isn’t happy that they don’t want anything to do with her and has to learn that they are wild animals, not pets.
The book is highly illustrated with full-page bright, colourful pictures. I love the faces that Eve’s Grandpa pulls, especially when the mother duck is chasing Eve away.
The plot I felt could have done with Grandpa telling Eve that she shouldn’t go near the ducklings and that she should leave them alone, though I think falling in the pond taught her a lesson!
Overall, the book is a quick, relaxing read that features some very cute little ducklings, especially the illustration of them asleep at the end.
