Synopsis
An anarchic, hilarious story by exciting debut author Bethan Clarke, illustrated with deadpan humour by rising star Anders Frang.
Gus the Goat loves guessing. And he loves rhyming. So, when he meets Mavis Mole, he can’t help himself trying to guess where she lives. Is it in a hole? In a bowl!? In a Sausage ROLL!! No, not quite . .
This super-silly and totally HOLE-ARIOUS story will have kids laughing out loud and joining in with Gus Goat’s outlandish guessing game. Perfect for inspiring a love of language in little ones. Fans of The Day The Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt and Oliver Jeffers, the Supertato series by Paul Linnet and Sue Hendra, and anything Dr Seuss, will adore Holey Moley!
Review by Stacey
Holey Moley is a comical, laugh-out-loud children’s book featuring Gus the Goat and Mavis Mole. Gus tries to guess where Mavis lives and comes up with lots of places that rhyme with mole starting with Mavis Mole living in a hole, so they are a holey moley!
The book is a quick read and such good fun. Each page is filled with amusing moments and fabulous illustrations. I can see young readers loving this story a lot and giggling away throughout.
My favourite part is when Mole is explaining exactly where they live and Gus realises he was right all along.
Holey Moley is such a clever book that provides lots of entertainment and will have children wanting to read it over and over again.
