Synopsis
From the creators of Rain Before Rainbows comes a beautiful book that lights a path for all those who dare to dream of peace.
A happy band of friends journey together, but dark clouds threaten their friendship and they lose their way in a story that starts in the safety of the happy and familiar, then goes on to explore the difficulty of discord and hurt; what it means to lose and find peace again; the bravery it takes to be a peace-maker; and the jubilance that peace ushers in. From smiles to small gestures, to natural beauty, we discover that while peace isn’t always easy to find, it makes love and friendship whole.
Review by Stacey
Peace on Earth by Smriti Halls is a children’s picture book, written in a poetic style and rhymes in places. The book features young children and often a wolf or two as they travel far and wide discovering what makes peace.
From sparkly oceans to laughing with friends the children search for those magical moments but they are also aware of what causes issues.
The book has been highly illustrated with glossy sparkly pages and visually it is quite stunning. I feel that it is these drawings that will have children in awe at this book rather than the text which didn’t really grab me in a way I thought it would.
Overall, I did enjoy Peace on Earth and feel it would make a lovely class read or bedtime story. The words within are there to teach whether by showing what helps people find peace or emphasising what destroys it. It is a quick read with just a couple of lines on each page and I can see it being read over and over again.
