Danger has a new destination.

An enigmatic invitation lures tech genius Avery Turner and thrill-seeker Carter Mosley away from their recent groundbreaking discovery of the General’s Gold, offering them a chance to join an expedition on the cutting edge of science. Drawn into the heart of Antarctica, they pursue a legendary shipwreck that is fabled to house the long-lost crown jewels of Norway. As they plunge into the quest, chilling tales of centuries-old curses and an unsolved murder emerge, hinting at connections more profound and perilous than they ever imagined.

With a stolen treasure worth millions at stake and the fate of the scientific expedition in question, Carter must complete the most dangerous dive of his life in the harshest conditions on the planet. As suspicious sabotage cripples their equipment and unforeseen dangers intensify, the duo depend on Avery’s innovative technology and their unwavering trust in each other. But amidst the ice, their gravest challenge might become determining friend from foe.

Review by Clive

Following my recent review of The General’s Gold I was pleased to receive an advance copy of The Cardinal’s Curse, the second book in the Turner and Mosley Files series, due to be published in June.

Given how much I enjoyed the first book I was interested to see if the sequel could be as entertaining. I’m pleased to say that it was.

The basic plot has similarities with the first book as the same three protagonists, Avery, Carter and Harrison are involved in trying to recover some long lost treasure. The difference being that on this occasion they travel beyond their home area of the eastern USA to Antarctica and Europe. Needless to say, there are others who desire the treasure and are willing to take whatever action necessary to get it.

As almost expected, the action starts with a potentially dangerous dive off New York before it moves to the Antarctic. I particularly enjoyed that section of the book. The authors have done their research well, showing how tough life is in that area and the diving episode in near freezing water was extremely tense.

Once again LynDee Walker and Bruce Robert Coffin’s text is easy to follow, keeping the reader’s attention. The three lead characters blend well together and their interactions are entertaining and amusing. I also appreciate that they are relatively uncomplicated people. We are not burdened by any personal issues, troubled histories or injustices; they are there to achieve their goals and to entertain us.

As you have realised I am a real fan of the Turner and Mosley books. I have given The Cardinal’s Curse five stars.
