Synopsis
Blue like the raindrops. Green like the soft grass. Yellow like the warm sun. This is the story of how the rainbow snail came to be. It takes sun and rain to make a rainbow, and what better combination of colors could there be?
Review by Stacey
The Rainbow Snail is a young children’s picture book that teaches little ones about different colours. Snail wonders what it would be like to be violet like some flowers, from then on the snail wonders about all different colours including, blue, red, orange, yellow, indigo, and green.
The illustrations are quite minimal but large. They all emphasise the snail (who gets bigger with each colour) and whichever colour the page is showcasing, such as blue raindrops or green grass. The text is in a handwritten style and is quite short too, perfect for little readers.
The story is a little basic but that is what you want for very young readers up to around three years old as their concentration span isn’t long enough for longer books, plus, this gets right to the heart of what it is about, teaching children colours.
Overall, this is a wonderful tool for educating children about the colours of the rainbow. It has a gentle storyline that works perfectly and is quite adorable too.
