Synopsis
Lucia Scafetti, a Philly private eye, has tried to move out of the shadow of her infamous crime family. She has her own business, her beloved dog Rocco, and she’s starting to date the cute lawyer down the hall. Her life is upended when her notorious hitman father disappears while in search of the diamond and gold coins he stole from his last victim.
Lucia races to unravel the mystery of her father’s disappearance before a crooked and powerful cop beats her to it. Though Lucia’s allies are scanty and her enemies numerous, she tries to resist the questionable help on offer from her Mafiosi family. It looks like Lucia must finally decide on which side of the law she truly belongs, knowing the wrong choice could send her to prison – or an early grave.
Review by Stacey
Where No One Will See is a private detective thriller with a romantic undertone. Lucia Scafetti works in Philadelphia as a PI. She has tried over the years to distance herself from her family that has mafia connections with some degree of success, that is until her father is released from prison early and visits her.
Carlo Scafetti wants his mother’s items that Lucia has been keeping since her death. Within them, he is looking for a key that will open a hiding place to money and other things. However, whilst off looking for the hiding place, alone, Carlos goes missing and his car is found abandoned.
After being told to stay out of it by her family, Lucia puts her skills and knowledge to the test to discover the truth, but the truth leads her on a dark path surrounded by corruption and death.
Where No One Will See is a kick-ass thriller with a sarcastic, witty, and stubborn protagonist who doesn’t mind rubbing people up the wrong way if it gets the results she is looking for.
The plot runs smoothly and the underlying romantic element adds another layer to the story. The tenseness of the situation comes across strongly and the pace is even and fast throughout.
I enjoyed the thrill of the chase and the will she/won’t she find her father alive as well as Lucia’s ability to get to the truth and bring a lot of people down. Overall, a great thriller with a strong female protagonist.
